Great list, Eric! I agree that Poltergeist would have made the list for me. But these are all delightfully creepy.

I think the Omen should have been higher. It's so creepy. But oddly enough I though that Carol Ann's Theme from Poltergeist would have made this list. It's so innocent and childlike but extremely creepy at the same time.

I think the Candyman theme is the most scarriest (and best) horror movie theme. A little surprised that its not on Your list.
I guess that's the ears of the beholder.

As bad as the movie was, I always thought that La-La theme with the children's voices from the Amityville Horror (1979) was pretty creepy.

I don't know...I think the music from Carpenter's "The Thing" and the more recent "The Machinist" are far creepier. The beauty about the music from "The Thing" is how the key themes are synthesized, and that actually adds an element of creepiness to the movie. We're used to hearing symphonic orchestras, and all of a sudden here's an old school synthesizer, providing a low pulse like a heartbeat, followed by a soft, ominous pair of minor chords that just soak in. The overall effect is isolating, chilling, and alien. It helps accentuate the unknown, which practically by definition precedes fear.

The beauty of the music from "The Machinist" is we're looking in on the life of a lonely metal worker whose life is anything but glamorous and who doesn't even eat or sleep. What's creepy about the movie is that we're looking at things through his perspective, which is anything but reliable. The music somehow highlights the isolation and off-kilter perspective which has long ago lost any practical frame of reference on things.

Didn't Mia Farrow sing the vocals for the Rosemary's Baby theme? Also, I love the Phantomas cover with Mike Patton growling "What have you done to his eyes...?"
