Director Robert Eggers’ The Witch opens in wide release this week, so it seems as good a time as any to get down to the serious business of ranking witches in film.


The tonally schizophrenic sci-fi actioner ‘Elysium’ and the unfunny mafia comedy ‘The Family’ arrive in Blu-ray-DVD combo packs, and at least one of them is still making an impression.


Though he has a ton of capable talent including Tommy Lee Jones and Robert De Niro, Luc Besson creates a messy film in ‘The Family’

‘Dark Shadows’ has the talent behind and in front of the camera to be the lusty, campy drama it wants to be, but the movie has a lot of exposition to get out of the way first.
