“Gran Torino” advance screening giveaway for KC!
Posted on December 16th, 2008

Clint Eastwood’s newest film and his second to qualify for Oscar consideration in 2008, is “Gran Torino.” We only have 50 ‘admit-two’ advance passes for the screening on Tuesday, January 6th 7:30pm at the AMC Olathe Studio 30. We’ll do a random drawing on Mon., Dec. 29 to determine the 50 lucky winners, who will then receive an email and instructions on how to print out their ‘admit-two’ pass!

From the press release: Multiple Academy Award winner Clint Eastwood stars in the drama “Gran Torino,” marking his first film role since his Oscar-winning film “Million Dollar Baby.” Eastwood stars as an iron-willed and inflexible Korean War veteran, living in a changing world, who is forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his own long-held prejudices. Retired auto worker Walt Kowalski fills his days with home repair, beer, and monthly trips to the barber. Though his late wife’s final wish was for him to take confession, for Walt—an embittered veteran of the Korean War who keeps his M-1 rifle cleaned and ready—there’s nothing to confess. And no one he trusts enough to confess to other than his dog, Daisy. The people he once called his neighbors have all moved or passed away, replaced by the Hmong immigrants he despises. Resentful of virtually everything he sees—the drooping eaves, overgrown lawns and the foreign faces surrounding him; the aimless gangs of Hmong, Latino and African American teenagers who all think the neighborhood belongs to them; the callow strangers his children have grown up to be—Walt is just waiting out the rest of his life. Until the night someone tries to steal his Gran Torino.

Please bring it to the screening, and remember to get there early. These screenings are overbooked to ensure a full house. Good luck!

Win advance passes to “Body of Lies” in KC!
Posted on September 26th, 2008

Okay, everybody, we’re going to do this one a little differently. I’m assuming a lot of you will want tickets to this movie, and we only have 50 to give away, so rather than doing the first 50 signed up, we’ll do a random drawing on Friday, Oct. 3 to determine the 50 lucky winners, who will then receive an email and instructions on how to print out their ‘admit-two’ pass!

Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe star in the new Ridley Scott (”Gladiatior,” “Blade Runner”) movie “Body of Lies.” It’s based on Washington Post columnist David Ignatius’ 2007 novel about a CIA operative who uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. When he devises a plan to infiltrate his network, he must first win the backing of a suspicious CIA veteran and the head of Jordanian intelligence. Although ostensibly his allies, the operative questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation—and his life—on the line.

The screening is set for Monday, Oct. 6 at the Olathe Studio 30 (119th & Strang Line) at 7:30pm. If you’ve won, you will receive an email on Friday, Oct. 3 with instructions on how to print off your ‘admit-two’ pass online. Please bring it to the screening, and remember to get there early. These screenings are overbooked to ensure a full house, and this one will be big, no doubt. Good luck! This film is rated “R” for strong violence including some torture, and for language throughout. No one under 17 will be admitted to see this film unless accompanied by a
parent or adult guardian.

Giveaway is over, we've run out of tickets!

Play the Scene-Stealers Scavenger Hunt and win free advance passes to “Iron Man” in KC!
Posted on April 16th, 2008

PLAY THE SCENE-STEALERS “IRON MAN” SCAVENGER HUNT! You probably already know this, but this is a big, big summer movie. Rather than getting the normal 50 free passes, we only have 10 passes (each are admit two) to give away for the advance screening of “Iron Man” on Tuesday, April 29 at 7:30 pm at AMC Olathe Studio 30 (119th & I-35). Instead of giving away passes to the first 10 that sign up, your pals at Scene-Stealers have devised a little scavenger hunt on the fine pages of your favorite website (that’s ours!). Read below for instructions on how to play. All correct entries received will be entered for the drawing for advance screening passes to “Iron Man, starring Robert Downey, Jr., Jeff Bridges, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

HOW TO PLAY:The Scavenger Hunt will require the use of our site search engine, located in the upper right hand portion of each page.

When you see a clue, type the answer into the search engine.

One of the pages that comes up will have your next clue on it.

It may not be the first or second page you click on, so make sure you look at them all.

The clues will be photos, found in the bottom right-hand corner of the correct pages only.

Next to the photo will be a lowercase caption/question that you must answer.

Type your answer in the search engine and move on to the correct next page.

There are 10 clues before you get to the final answer.

Once you have the final answer, click the link back to this giveaway page and fill out the form, adding your FINAL CORRECT ANSWER.

All entries with the correct answer will be entered to win one of 10 passes and you will receieve an email notifying you that you are registered to win the tickets.

Hint: All answers must be spelled correctly.

Hint: Type all answers in the search engine in lowercase only.

Hint: If you see a page you’ve already been to after searching, you haven’t looked at them all yet.

Hint: Your first clue is at the bottom right hand side of this page.

If you are one of the lucky 10 winners, please remember to get there early. These screenings are often overbooked. Your pass will have more details on this. One way to guarantee that not only will you get a good seat, but a guaranteed seat is to come dressed like billioanire Tony Stark or his alter ego, Iron Man. I’ll let the publicist explain:

“We are encouraging everyone in attendance to dress as Tony Stark or Iron Man. The first 50 people in line who are dressed like this will receive VIP seating. *Note* If you are with a guest and your guest is not dressed up, your guest will not be eligible to sit in VIP.”

Wow. They are serious. So are we. Here’s your chance to win free advance tickets to this exciting screening. Go forth and hunt, and remember to have fun.

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE IN BY THURSDAY APR 24!!

This contest is over and winners are being notified! Thanks for playing!

Also, please remember how important it is that you enter all personal info in correctly, otherwise we can’t tell you when you’ve won!
