Your pals at Scene-Stealers are happy to announce that we have 50 ‘admit-two’ passes to the new Seth Rogen movie, “Observe and Report,” and we want to give some to you (provided you live somewhere in the Kansas City area). The screening is Tuesday, April 7 at the Cinemark Palace on the Plaza (500 Nichols Rd Kansas City, MO 64112) at 7:30pm, and the passes will be given out via email. All you need to do is sign up below, and we’ll have a random drawing on Friday, April 3 to determine the 50 lucky winners. Click here to win a movie poster signed by Seth Rogen! The winners will get an email on that day with instructions on how they can print out their passes to the screening. Here’s a little bit about the movie, which is NOT your typical Seth Rogen movie and was written and directed by Jody Hill (”The Foot Fist Way, HBO’s “Eastbound and Down”):
At the Forest Ridge Mall, head of security Ronnie Barnhardt (SETH ROGEN) patrols his jurisdiction with an iron fist. The master of his domain, he combats skateboarders, shoplifters and the occasional unruly customer while dreaming of the day when he can swap his flashlight for a badge and a gun. Ronnie’s delusions of grandeur are put to the test when the mall is struck by a flasher. Driven by his personal duty to protect and serve the mall and its patrons, Ronnie seizes the opportunity to showcase his underappreciated law enforcement talents on a grand scale, hoping his solution of this crime will earn him a coveted spot at the police academy and the heart of his elusive dream girl Brandi (ANNA FARIS), the hot make-up counter clerk who won’t give him the time of day. But his single-minded pursuit of glory launches a turf war with the equally competitive Detective Harrison (RAY LIOTTA) of the Conway Police, and Ronnie is confronted with the challenge of not only catching the flasher, but getting him before the real cops do.
Seth Rogen stars in the dark comedy “Observe and Report,” written and directed by Jody Hill (“The Foot Fist Way”). The film also stars Anna Faris (“The House Bunny”), Michael Peña (“Crash”) and Ray Liotta (“Goodfellas”).
If you’ve won, you will receive an email on Friday, April 3 with instructions on how to print off your ‘admit-two’ pass online. Please bring it to the screening, and remember to get there early. These screenings are overbooked to ensure a full house. This film is rated “R” for pervasive language, graphic nudity, drug use, sexual content and violence. No one under 17 will be admitted to see this film unless accompanied by a
parent or adult guardian. Good luck!

It may be a late screening for a school night, but we’ve just received 50 tickets for Guy Ritchie’s new British gangster drama “RocknRolla” for 9pm on Tuesday October 28. The screening will take place at the Olathe Studio 30, and is also a sneak preview of that theater’s new theater/dining/drinking format called Fork & Screen. You will hear plenty more about that in the very near future, since my band The Dead Girls will be performing a free rock show on the pavement outside the theater on Saturday, November 1st. (Tie-in: “RocknRolla” meets rock n’ roll. Reality: Any excuse to play a free concert for anyone who wants to come!)
Anyway, you know the drill: The first 50 people to sign up will get a free ‘admit-two’ pass in the mail. If you are able to fill out the form below, the tickets will be mailed to your house. Please do not sign up more than once, and don’t try to be all tricky with multiple email accounts and addresses. Also, if the screening sells out, be sure and keep checking back at this post. Often times, Scene-Stealers sitegoers will let you know if they aren’t using their tickets! If you are one of the lucky 50 winners, please remember to get there early. These screenings are often overbooked. Your pass will have more details on this. Good luck!

The controversial George W. Bush biopic from Oliver Stone is here, with Josh Brolin as W. W. takes viewers through Bush’s eventful life — his struggles and triumphs, how he found both his wife and his faith, and of course the critical days leading up to Bush’s decision to invade Iraq.

If you are able to fill out the form below, the tickets will be mailed to your house. Please do not sign up more than once, and don’t try to be all tricky with multiple email accounts and addresses. If you live in the Kansas City area, here’s your chance to hit another FREE ADVANCE SCREENING courtesy of your pals at Scene-Stealers. Check out the trailer for the new horror flick “The Ruins” below.
The screening will take place on Thursday, April 3rd at 10pm.
This very well could be your standard run-of-the-mill horror teen outing, but a couple of things intrigue me.
1. It’s based on the best-seller by Scott Smith, the novelist who wrote “A Simple Plan.” That movie was amazing, and, although I haven’t read the book, Sam Raimi’s film seemed to have a level of character development that many horror movies don’t have. Smith also wrote the screenplay for this, so it could be good…
2. Produced by Ben Stiller? Huh?
Here’s the synopsis:
Based on the terrifying best-seller by Scott Smith, “The Ruins” follows a group of friends who become entangled in a brutal struggle for survival after visiting a remote archaeological dig in the Mexican jungle – where they discover something deadly living among the ruins. “The Ruins” stars Jonathan Tucker (“The Black Donnellys”), Jena Malone (“Pride and Prejudice”), Shawn Ashmore (“X-Men: The Last Stand”), Laura Ramsey (“She’s the Man”) and Joe Anderson (“Across the Universe”). The film is directed by Carter Smith from a screenplay by Scott B. Smith.

If you live in the Kansas City area, here’s your chance to hit another FREE ADVANCE SCREENING courtesy of your pals at Scene-Stealers. Check out the trailer for the Martin Scorsese-directed IMAX film “Shine A Light,” starring the Rolling Stones, below:
You may remember that Scorsese is the man behind what is widely regarded as the best concert film of all time, 1978’s “The Last Waltz,” starring The Band, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Van Morrison. This time, the master set his sights on the Stones during a rare 2-day small-venue stop on a tour filled almost exclusively with stadium gigs. The movie was filmed at the more intimate setting of the Beacon Theater in the Fall of 2006, and also features rarely seen archival footage and current behind-the-scenes footage and interviews shot using additional Hi Def, DV Cam, 16mm, and 8mm cameras. Even though the Maysles brothers’ “Gimme Shelter” from 1970 is probably the definitive Stones movie, I’m more than a little curious to see what Scorsese and a crack team of cinematographers such as Robert Elswit (who just won an Oscar for “There Will Be Blood”), Emmanuel Lubezki (”Children of Men”), and Ellen Kuras (”Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”) have come up with in the loud, large IMAX format.
Your favorite rock ‘n roll movie site (that’s us!) is giving away free passes to see this event before the movie opens intheaters. The free screening will be on Tuesday, April 1 (Yes, I know what day it is, but we promise this is no joke. You won’t get there and find “Hannah Montana.” You’ll just have to trust us.) and will be on the IMAX screen at AMC Olathe Studio 30 (119th & I-35) at 8:30 pm. Just fill out the stuff below, and get a pass for two in the mail. It’s just that simple! Don’t forget to get there early, as some screenings are overbooked!
