Win guaranteed reserved seats, prize pack for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” advance screening!
Posted on November 6th, 2009

Most of our screening contests give you passes to an advance showing of a film, but the pass only guarantees you a place in line, not a seat. Some of these early showings sell out.

Well, we have 4 pairs of reserved seats (for the “New Moon” 7:30pm screening at AMC Barrywoods 24 on November 18) and prize packs including a DVD, CD, and case of VitaminWater for four lucky winners, to be chosen at random.

That’s right. No waiting in line, no getting there an hour and a half early. Reserved seats.

The catch? We at Scene-Stealers want to make sure we are drawing from a pool of potential winners that are true fans of the “Twilight” books and movies.

That means you gotta answer some trivia questions.

You didn’t think we were going to let you off that easy, did you?

Win passes to THE FOURTH KIND in KC!
Posted on October 19th, 2009

We have passes for you and a guest to attend the advance screening of THE FOURTH KIND on Tuesday, November 3 at 7:30 PM at the AMC Studio 30 (119th & I-35).

All you need to do is fill out the form below. We’ll have a random drawing on Friday, October 30 to determine the winners. Here’s the trailer, website for the film, and a synopsis from the studio:

1n 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document…until now.

Structured unlike any film before it, THE FOURTH KIND is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where—mysteriously since the 1960s—a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered.

Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.

Using never-before-seen archival footage that is integrated into the film, THE FOURTH KIND exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

Win advance passes to see “The Box” in KC!
Posted on October 15th, 2009

We have passes for you and a guest to attend the advance screening of THE BOX on Thursday, November 5 at 7:30 PM at the AMC Studio 30 (119th & I-35).

All you need to do is fill out the form below. We’ll have a random drawing on Monday, November 2 to determine the winners.

Here’s the synopsis from the studio:

What if someone gave you a box containing a button that, if pushed, would bring you a million dollars…but simultaneously take the life of someone you don’t know? Would you do it? And what would be the consequences?

The year is 1976. Norma Lewis (CAMERON DIAZ) is a teacher at a private high school and her husband, Arthur (JAMES MARSDEN), is an engineer working at NASA. They are, by all accounts, an average couple living a normal life in the suburbs with their young son…until a mysterious man with a horribly disfigured face appears on their doorstep (FRANK LANGELLA, as Arlington Steward) and presents them with a life-altering proposition: the box.

With only 24 hours to make their choice, Norma and Arthur face an impossible moral dilemma. They soon discover that the ramifications of this decision are beyond their control and extend far beyond their own fortune and fate.

“The Box” is based upon the classic short story “Button, Button” by Richard Matheson. It was written for the screen and directed by Richard Kelly, whose 2001 sci-fi mystery thriller “Donnie Darko,” a cult classic, earned a Grand Jury Prize nomination at the Sundance Film Festival. “Donnie Darko” went on to screen at film festivals around the world and brought Kelly Independent Spirit Award nominations for Best Director and Best Screenplay.

Win passes to CIRQUE DU FREAK: THE VAMPIRE’S ASSISTANT in KC!
Posted on October 5th, 2009

We have passes for you and a guest to attend the advance screening of CIRQUE DU FREAK: THE VAMPIRE’S ASSISTANT on Tuesday, October 20 at 7:30 PM at the AMC Studio 30 (119th & I-35).

All you need to do is fill out the form below. We’ll have a random drawing on Friday, October 16 to determine the winners. Here’s the trailer, website for the film, and a synopsis from the studio:

John C. Reilly, Ken Watanabe, Josh Hutcherson, Chris Massoglia, Ray Stevenson, Patrick Fugit, with Willem Dafoe and Salma Hayek star in Universal Pictures’
CIRQUE DU FREAK: THE VAMPIRE’S ASSISTANT.

CIRQUE DU FREAK: THE VAMPIRE’S ASSISTANT, based on the popular series of books by Darren Shan, is a fantasy-adventure about a teenager who unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, one teen will vanish from the safety of a boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares.

16-year-old Darren (Chris Massoglia) was like most kids in his suburban neighborhood. He hung out with his best friend Steve (Josh Hutcherson), got decent grades and usually stayed out of trouble. But when he and his buddy stumble upon a traveling freak show, things begin to change inside Darren. That’s the exact moment when a vampire named Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly) turns him into something, well, bloodthirsty.

Newly undead, he joins the Cirque Du Freak, a touring sideshow filled with monstrous creatures from a snakeboy and a wolfman to a bearded lady (Salma Hayek) and a gigantic barker (Ken Watanabe). As Darren flexes his newfound powers in this dark world, he becomes a treasured pawn between the vampires and their deadlier counterparts. And while trying to survive, one boy will struggle to keep their brewing war from devouring what’s left of his humanity.

From Middle America, to the halls of power in Washington, to the global financial epicenter in Manhattan, Michael Moore will once again take filmgoers into uncharted territory.

“Terminator Salvation” advance passes for KC screening!
Posted on May 11th, 2009

Your pals at Scene-Stealers have 20 admit-two passes to see “Terminator Salvation,” the fourth movie in the sci-fi franchise, and we want to give them to you. The advance screening is on Monday May 18, 2009 at the AMC Olathe Studio 30 (119th & I-35) at 7:30pm. All you need to do is fill out the form below and peruse our Christian Bale Valentine’s Day e-cards inspired by the star’s infamous rant on the set of “Terminator Salvation” while you wait for our random drawing.

Synopsis: In the highly anticipated new installment of The Terminator film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

As if the alternate reality “Star Trek” stuff wasn’t hard enough to swallow, there’s more altered reality in this movie, plus an appearance by Anton Yelchin (who also played Chekov in “Star Trek”) as Kyle Reese. My brain hurts.

We’ll have our drawing on Friday, May 15 and there will be 20 people picked at random. Each will receive an email with instructions on how to print off their passes for next Monday night. Good luck!
