On-Camera Movie Review of "Terminator Salvation"

Summer is here and Eric Melin and guest host Trevan McGee from inkkc.com review the new McG (“Charlie’s Angels,” “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle”) reboot of “The Terminator” franchise, starring Christian Bale as famed leader of the human resistance John Connor. Eric thinks the movie is like a plate of leftovers from “The Road Warrior,” “Alien,” ‘War of the Worlds,”and “The Matrix,” while Trevan holds firm that as a war movie with some good action scenes, it succeeds.

I wasn’t very impressed with the movie, what I liked about the third one (that was the one most recently watched) was it had a bit of comedy, it helped the movie flow, this one just didn’t seem to flow. Plus the “main” characters were so underdeveloped; Kate should have been a bigger present, especially since she is john’s wife. Also I didn’t like the casting of Bryce Dallas Howard as Kate, 1 she’s about 5 years too young, and she shows it, 2 I think Kate needed to be tougher looking, they’ve been living in this post apocalyptic world constantly fighting, she would be much tougher looking. Plus wouldn’t by now the top dogs in the military pay more attention to Conner, he’s really the only one that knows about these machines, and has proven that he knows how to stop them. Sam was very good; he was one of the best parts of the film. It’s a good action flick, but the plot just wasn’t will built, and neither were the characters.

I have to wait an extra week here in Argentina to see this one, and you’re not getting me any more excited for enduring the wait. However, you haven’t sunk my expectations any farther, so that’s something. Nice hat.

Same deal in Argentina… Yet I fear that hopes are higher than they should be for this one.

15 minutes, yeah. Mash it up into a heavy metal music video. Slap some Buckcherry behind that shit, that’s about all Salvation is good for. Good Transformers outtakes from ILM.

So right, Reed. High Terminator expectations do this movie in, especially after Trek.

I agree that I was somewhat letdown by this movie. Bale was good though.

Pointless waste of time. I had no idea what was going on the first 20 minutes into the film and though there were some pretty interesting action scenes, the soul of this great franchise is gone.

OK, I finally got to see this. Wow, wow, wow was that a horrendous ending. I was sitting there thinking it was a passable action movie, but then about partway through I started thinking about it. I shouldn’t have been asked to think during a McG movie. My bad. And man, I just can’t get over that ending. I mean, that would have been too hokey for Spielberg. He just McG-ed all over us.
