Capsule Review: "U-571"

I saw “Das Boot” in its fully restored version only 2 weeks before this film, so already I knew “U-571” would pale in comparison. What I wasn’t prepared for was cliche after cliche with no interesting characters and a lot of bad acting. I felt tense only twice, and for a submarine ‘thriller’, that’s pretty bad. Especially when once was because I couldn’t figure out whether shipmate Jon Bon Jovi had been killed or was just offscreen for an enormous amount of time. This movie was an enormous WASTE of time.
