Capsule Review: "The Perfect Storm"

Well, you get what you pay for when you go to see this movie. I liked all the actors. George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, John C. Reilly, and William Fichter all do a good job in making their woefully underwritten characters come to life. The first 45 minutes are all set-up, but once that boat sets sail, director Wolfgang Peterson (that’s right, “Das Boot”- go rent it now!) builds the tesion higher and higher until you are completely engrossed in the insane struggle onscreen. The special effects were incredible, of course. But it was the pacing of the action scenes that got me involved. The hugeness of the spectacle and the crazy loud sound effects make it definitely one for the theater.
