Capsule Review: "Shaft"

Samuel L. Jackson talkin’ shit and kickin’ ass? Count me in. I was excited to see this one, and it didn’t let me down. Great villians (Christian Bale, Jeffrey Wright), an interesting story, and some super-charged direction from John Singleton (“Boyz in the Hood,” “Rosewood”) made this one a lot of fun. And, of course, Jackson delivers the goods, Jules-style. My only complaint– remember the “private dick who’s a sex machine for all the chicks” from the classic Isaac Hayes song? Well, I guess it’s not 1973 anymore.
