Thanks, I think its a really great movie; what Sam McMurray from “Raising Arizona” would call a “way-homer.”

Seriously, though, I think people will discover “Brothers Bloom” on DVD and it re-watch value will make it pretty valuable…

I disagree, Alan. I think the brothers never realized the gravity of their actions until they kind of blew up in their face. The turn in tone was necessary to end the movie the way they did, because without it they would keep playing “pretend” like little kids.

I fell in love with this movie with when I saw it a few weeks ago. I defy anyone to think of a scene in a film that makes you smile more than when Penelope and Bloom first hold hands. Great review, as always Eric.

I’m in total agreement with you for the first 90 minutes (or so), but the final act simply doesn’t work for me. Aside from shifting too far from the early tone of the film, there are some rather obvious plot issues given Stephen’s choices late in the film.
