"Knowing" advance screening passes for KC

in Giveaways

Alex Proyas, the director of “Dark City”–one of the most stylistically exciting and underrated sci-fi movies ever–has a new movie coming out next month. Granted, it stars Nicolas Cage, whose track record of late has not been so good. I am hopeful nevertheless, and we have 25 ‘admit-two’ passes to give away for the Kansas City screening of “Knowing” on Monday, March 16 at 8:30 pm at the AMC Town Center (119th & Nall). On Monday, March 9, we will draw 25 winners at random to win the tickets and the passes will be mailed then. Here’s an advance scene from the movie:

Synopsis: A teacher (Cage) opens a time capsule that has been dug up at his son’s elementary school; in it are some chilling predictions — some that have already occurred and others that are about to — that lead him to believe his family plays a role in the events that are about to unfold.

On Monday, March 9, we will draw 25 winners at random to win the tickets. They will be notified via email, and the passes will be mailed then. Please arrive early, as the screening will probably be overbooked. Your pass will have more information on this. Good luck!

There’s nothing like seeing a movie about the end of the world during a recession… How many financial advisors do you think will be in the audience? ;)

His roles seem to be similar lately, but this one looks very interesting.

Did anyone ever notice Joss Whedon “borrowing” from the characters in Proyas’s “Dark City (1998)” to create the characters in Season 4 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer – “The Gentlemen”? I would say that constitutes plagarism since they were so much like “The Strangers”.

But I digress, I hope this can be a great part for Cage. He has had a host of big budget diasters peppered with a few main stream, popular action adventures. I fear his age is gettting the best of him in his selection of roles and he should return to his successful string of smaller films/roles like “Adaption” and “Bringing Out the Dead”. Unfortunately, I am just a pseudo-critic and Hollywood does not listen to me – Cage has 10 projects he is involved with through 2010.

Bruce- You are dead on right about Cage’s roles of late, and first thing I thought of when I saw The Gentlemen was “Dark City.” Soon this site will enable you to aggregate and feature your opinions, which are as valid as anyone else’s! I hope you like the new changes.
