J.D. – I totally agree about Michael Clayton, particular for the category of Director. If it’s supposed to be a suspense film, why give away every angle right off the bat? There was a great movie in there, but they screwed it up. It was overstuffed with minutiae (Clooney’s brother, his son, his bar) and should have just focused on Clooney OR Swinton.

PT Anderson deserves it. Amazing work on that film. But I think you’re both right that he’s not going to get it. History will judge his movie correctly.
