Are you already getting a little summer-movie fatigue already like me? If so, this thriller from Kathryn Bigelow (”Near Dark,” “Strange Days”) looks promising as an antidote. It’s got universal praise since screening at the Venice Film Festival late last year, and it opens in limited release this weekend, with an expansion over the next month to a wider audience. Here’s a short clip from “The Hurt Locker,” followed by the synopsis from the movie studio below.
THE HURT LOCKER is a riveting, suspenseful portrait of the courage under fire of the military’s unrecognized heroes: the technicians of a bomb squad who volunteer to challenge the odds and save lives doing one of the worlds most dangerous jobs. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the film stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Guy Pearce and Ralph Fiennes. THE HURT LOCKER opens in select theaters on June 26.
