I think it could turn out really well actually. I'll never lose respect for Bill Murray anyway. I can't say if it will be a great movie or not, but it will definitely be interesting. These types of sequels and franchise extensions are natural nowadays.

I agree with Troy, remakes and franchise reviving sequels can turn out good but I feel like there is less and less original material coming from the industry. It's kinda depressing.

Hmm I don't know about this. I love both the Ghostbusters and the Apatow kids, but this puts a weird taste in my mouth. The images in my head are quite funny in a corny/awkward way. But as goofy as the Ghostbusters were, they still possessed a serious quality that I think would be hard to capture with this new cast. On a positive note, if this brings new life to the franchise, I could probably make a killing on all my Ghostbuster toys.

And like Ashly I can't resist:
Would this mean Dan, Bill, Harold, and Ernie will be considered the "Real" Ghostbusters? heh

this is the first i have heard of this, but honestly, i am kinda on the fence. not that the "ghostbusters" did a whole lot of running around... but those guys are old now. and i love the apatow team, and i think they would be super funny, but it's going to be hard to see them in EVERY movie in the future. not only straight comedy, but also into the "action" genre. first "the green hornet" (rogen), talks of "21 jump street" (hill), and now "ghostbusters". not to mention, it just wouldn't be the same without the original crew making all the jokes. this seems to be an upcoming trend though: bringing in the new talent to revive an old franchise. indiana jones, star trek, maybe the goonies, maybe ghostbusters. the "mentor" thing could get old fast. i've rambled enough.

ps. ashly, that was awesome.

I'm so tired of all the late sequels being done right now it's not even funny. I loved all these movies and I think doing another one so late down the road just hurts them more than helps.
